Andrew Williams New Chair of the Saskatoon & Region Home Builders’ Association

For immediate release

Saskatoon, SK (June 30, 2020) >> The Saskatoon & Region Home Builders’ Association elected its new Executive earlier this month and welcomed Andrew Williams of North Prairie Developments as its Chair for a two-year term, succeeding from Cam Skoropat of Lexis Homes.

Earlier this month, the Association had welcomed five new Directors to the table after the election held at their virtual Annual General Meeting. Now with a complement of 13 Directors, the strengthened Board met for the first time on June 18, 2020.

“I am thrilled to step up as Chair of the Association during such a time of momentum for our professional association and work towards continued growth for our members,” commented Williams. “I intend to continue on our recent but very important path of continuing conversations with all levels of government, advocating for policy directions that will benefit growth, a competitive offering in our region and a healthy housing continuum which includes a sharp focus on affordability.”

Williams has been on the Association Board for seven years and is highly experienced in the industry, in business and knowledgeable of not only of the regional market, but the North American landscape. Andrew joined North Prairie Developments in 2007 and became partner and CEO in 2014. He leads annual excursions to large markets to visit new projects and research product types, land uses, sales processes, and construction techniques. He sat on the Saskatchewan New Home Warranty Board for the past six years and focuses on niche projects that offer affordability, innovation and exceptional customer support.

“I am thrilled to have the chance to serve under Andrew’s leadership,” comments Chris Guérette, CEO of the Association. “This is an election year and we have no shortage of housing files hitting our city council’s table. We have a Board and Executive that has a significant amount of experience and credibility.”

Joining the Executive this year is Conrad Ehr of Ehrenburg Homes as 1st Vice Chair; Wanda Hunchak of Hunchak Homes as 2nd Vice Chair; and Cam Skoropat sliding into Past Chair.

Saskatoon & Region Home Builders' Association

The voice of the residential construction industry in Saskatoon and region.

Safety, shelter, support. This is what housing provides. And, more housing is so needed. The YWCA Saskatoon turned away 4200 women and children last year because they just didn’t have the space. They do not know where they go. Please consider supporting the Hope Lives Here Campaign by purchasing a ticket on the She-Shed Lottery. Proceeds will go towards building new transitional housing at the YWCA, providing safe spaces for women and children in need. Winning the She-Shed would be amazing! And helping women and children in Saskatoon is definitely more amazing!🩷Thank you! ... See MoreSee Less

Saskatoon City Council unanimously approved zoning bylaw amendments to remove minimum off-street parking requirements city-wide at a Public Hearing held on Wednesday. Effective immediately, on-site parking requirements will be removed for all uses in all zoning districts. "Removing parking minimums is a step in the right direction. This will reduce costs and red-tape, and builders can proceed with projects that may not have 'penciled out' previously due to excessive minimum parking mandates" stated Nicole Burgess, SRHBA CEO."In most developments, on-site parking will still be provided, the consumer market will dictate that," says Burgess, "What we now have is the ability to 'right-size' parking in a way that makes sense. This will result in more housing units being built, more efficient land use and positively impact housing affordability across the continuum by not passing the costs of parking on to homeowners and renters."Bravo, Saskatoon! ...
