Safety, shelter, support. This is what housing provides. And, more housing is so needed. The YWCA Saskatoon turned away 4200 women and children last year because they just didn’t have the space. They do not know where they go. Please consider supporting the Hope Lives Here Campaign by purchasing a ticket on the She-Shed Lottery. Proceeds will go towards building new transitional housing at the YWCA, providing safe spaces for women and children in need. Winning the She-Shed would be amazing! Saskatoon City Council unanimously approved zoning bylaw amendments to remove minimum off-street parking requirements city-wide at a Public Hearing held on Wednesday. Effective immediately, on-site parking requirements will be removed for all uses in all zoning districts. "Removing parking minimums is a step in the right direction. This will reduce costs and red-tape, and builders can proceed with projects that may not have 'penciled out' previously due to excessive minimum parking mandates" stated Nicole Burgess, SRHBA CEO."In most developments, on-site parking will still be provided, the consumer market will dictate that," says Burgess, "What we now have is the ability to 'right-size' parking in a way that makes sense. This will result in more housing units being built, more efficient land use and positively impact housing affordability across the continuum by not passing the costs of parking on to homeowners and renters."Bravo, Saskatoon! ...
