Saskatoon City Council unanimously approved zoning bylaw amendments to remove minimum off-street parking requirements city-wide at a Public Hearing held on Wednesday. Effective immediately, on-site parking requirements will be removed for all uses in all zoning districts. "Removing parking minimums is a step in the right direction. This will reduce costs and red-tape, and builders can proceed with projects that may not have 'penciled out' previously due to excessive minimum parking mandates" stated Nicole Burgess, SRHBA CEO."In most developments, on-site parking will still be provided, the consumer market will dictate that," says Burgess, "What we now have is the ability to 'right-size' parking in a way that makes sense.
